Willie Lee Johnson

Mr. Willie Lee Johnson, 90, of Albany, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Life Church of Leesburg with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Reverend Ralph Horne and Pastor Matthew Schluckebier will officiate. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery. Born May 13, 1932, in Mitchell County, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Jutson Lee Johnson and Inez Golden Johnson. He was a talented building contractor who built many homes in Dougherty, Lee, and surrounding counties. He was most proud of his work on the former Liberty Parkway Church of God where he spent much time helping build the church structure. He was very active in the church, having served as leader of the ushers and enjoyed keeping the church grounds maintained. He continued faithfully though the years in serving God and others until his health declined. He enjoyed flying his airplane, fishing, riding his boat, and was a member of Life Church of Leesburg. Most of all he loved Jesus, his family, and will be greatly missed until we meet again in Heaven. Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Imogene Taylor Johnson; children, Caroline Jean Benford and Bo of Sylvester, Joel Lee Johnson of Albany, David Wayne Johnson and Rachel of Leesburg, and Donna Gail Sherman and Nate of Rock Hill, S.C.; brother, Boyd Wallace Johnson of Bainbridge; sister, Linda Joyce Coonrod of Kingsland; 6 grandchildren, Caroline, Jonathon, Randel, Kenny, Scott, and Lisa; and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Phoebe Hospice in memory of Mr. Johnson. Joseph W.
