William Ray Dorminey

Mr. William Ray Dorminey, 76, of Huntsville, AL., passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Bruce Smith will officiate with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Born January 2, 1940 in Worth County, GA, Mr. Dorminey was the son of the late Raymond and Myrtice Hatcher Dorminey. He lived several years in Albany, GA, where he worked in radio broadcasting as a disc jockey for WALG and WJAZ in the 60's and 70's. He later moved to Atlanta and worked for WZGC and also worked for a while in Houston, TX. for KRBE. After his years in the radio industry, Mr. Dorminey moved to the Ball Ground, GA area where he owned a dump truck business. When his health began to decline he moved to Huntsville, AL to be closer to family in 2011. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dorminey was also preceded in death by his wife, Stella Irvin Dorminey in 2010 and a brother, Charles Dorminey. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Carroll Dorminey of Athens, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Kim Key and Dan of Midland City, AL; step-daughter, Robbie Hudec of Atlanta, GA; brother, Mike Dorminey of Leesburg, GA; sister, Merle McGlamery of Sylvester, GA; grandchildren, Logan, Lane, Lindsey, Luke, Lawton and Joanna; great-granddaughter, Kinsley; step-grandchildren, Eric and Shea Hudec; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S. Leesburg, GA. 31763.
