A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 12:00 noon at Floral Memory Gardens, Albany, Georgia with Joseph W. Jones officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. Mr. Lilly was born March 22, 1931, in Lilly, WV while most of his life he lived in Albany, GA. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Medic and a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force. In his earlier years, Bill spent 14 years performing country music in Bill Carver’s band playing steel guitar at local VFW and Knights of Columbus facilities. He had a great love for country music, for fishing, had a vibrant, green thumb when planting flower and vegetable gardens, and often showed his love and hospitality for family and friends by firing up the grill to enjoy his deliciously marinated steaks and chicken. A stickler for detail, Bill worked 35 years in the paint and body business and retired as an industry specialist from Quality Paint and Body in 1992. In Roswell, GA, he attended a satellite location of New Bridge Church, out of Lawrenceville, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton D. Lilly and Edith Ware Lilly and two sisters, Sue Boggs, and June Semenske of West Virginia. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Sybil Lilly, a 2nd wife, Maria Lachmiller, and a son, William Darrell Lilly, Jr. Bill is survived by two sisters, Patricia Tolliver and husband Dave, and sister Shelby Liddle, of Beckley, WV, one stepson, Eddie Lachmiller and his wife Sherry, of Dawson, GA, his only daughter, Patricia Sheryl Buncic and husband, Louis Buncic, Jr., grandsons, Benjamin Louis Buncic and Jonathan David Buncic, of Roswell, GA, his daughter-in-law, Karen Lilly, grandchildren Shannon Lilly Hawkins, Kayla Lilly Morrison, and Carlye Alysse Lilly, five great-grandchildren, Lilly Bella Hawkins, Tyler Stephen, Brody Alexander, Nash Rivers, and Riggins Grey Morrison, all of Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that we honor Bill by sending memorial donations to his most favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org. Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home was given the honor to serve the Lilly family. Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home Leesburg, GA 229-814-1415
