Mrs. Virginia Louise McClure, 99, of Americus and formerly of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Magnolia Manor.
Born August 9, 1923, in Fort Worth, TX, Mrs. McClure was the daughter of the late Clyde and Marie Richardson Stalcup. She was a proud military wife of the late Otis Allen McClure, Jr., who was a World War II veteran that served in The Army Air Corp as a pilot. During her life she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing golf, traveling, and camping. Mrs. McClure was a member of The Albany Women’s Club, The Order of the Eastern Star, and Daffodil Flower Club. She was Episcopal by faith, loved her family more than anything, and especially adored her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Otis Allen McClure, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jack Wilson Brownlee.
Survivors include her children, Allen D. McClure and his wife, Gleta of Leesburg, and Judy McClure Brownlee of Leesburg; her grandchildren, Amy Brownlee Elwell and Tim of Tallahassee, FL, Scott A. McClure of Leesburg, and Christopher D. McClure and Debby of Shalimar, FL; and great-grandchildren, Elise Elwell of Jacksonville, FL, Presley McClure of Leesburg, and Cordelia McClure of Shalimar, FL.
Visitation will be held at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Andersonville National Cemetery on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Joseph W. Jones officiating.
