Mr. Vinson “Vince” E. Fallin, 74, of Leesburg, passed away Monday, October 02, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Porterfield United Methodist Church in Albany. Rev. Robert Greene, Rev. Nate Lehman and Rev. William Collins will officiate. Interment will follow at The Leesburg Cemetery. Born October 6, 1942 in Colquitt County, Mr. Fallin was the son of the late, E.V. and Nezzie Vinson Fallin. He served for 6 years in the Army National Guard before entering into his 32 year career in law enforcement as a Georgia State Patrolman. His public servant duties began at Post 14, Donalsonville, GA as a driver examiner. He graduated from the 38th Trooper School and was assigned to Post 12, Thomasville, GA where he worked for 6 and half years as Trooper. During this time he served as security for President elect Jimmy Carter’s campaign detail. He was promoted to Corporal and transferred to Post 40 as Corporal, Buck Sergeant, and Sergeant First Class as Post Commander for 9 years. He was promoted to Lieutenant serving as an assistant troop commander of headquarters in Americus, GA for 5 years. He was then promoted to Captain as the Troop G commander, commanding 5 patrol posts and 23 counties in South West Georgia. He was a faithful member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church in Albany where he served as an usher and had recently been given the volunteer of the year award. He was a Mason and member of The Masonic Lodge in Thomasville, GA and member of The Peace Officers Association of Georgia. He was a charter member of The Georgia Lodge of the American Association of State Troopers. He was most proud of his family and was beyond excited to have recently walked his “twin granddaughter”, Meaghan during homecoming as one of the candidates for homecoming queen for Lee County High. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Joyce Fallin; sons, Todd Fallin (Heide) and Chad Fallin (Tiffany) all of Leesburg; brothers, Francis, Tommy, Lindsey and Donald Fallin; 9 grandchildren; several uncles and aunts; nieces and nephews.
