Mr. Travis Ray Allen, Sr., 78, of Leesburg, went to Heaven to be with Jesus on Friday, April 18, 2025, from his home.
Services honoring his life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2025, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Robin Chaplin will officiate.
Born August 30, 1946, in Colquitt County, Ray was the son of the late Melvin and Nellie Coleman Allen. He worked for many years for Coats and Clark where he drove a forklift. His favorite hobbies were horseback riding, breaking horses, and going to Rodeo’s. He often said he was born a hundred years later than he should have been as he loved being a cowboy. Most of all he loved the Lord Jesus and time spent with his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church of Leesburg for many years and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his children, Sylvia Wilkerson, and Jeanine Dubose, his brothers, Dewayne and Terry Allen and his son-in-law, Jerry Holmes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Travis Ray Allen, Jr. of Leesburg, Melissa Carroll and Samuel of Texas, Tammy Holmes, and Carla Rey and Brett; one brother, Royce Allen and Sue of Mitchell County; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.
