Ruth Virginia Hester

Ruth Virginia Hester, 90, of Leesburg, GA, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., June 10, 2017 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S. Leesburg, GA 31763. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Ruth lived her life to the fullest during her early years. She worked at Forrest General Hospital of Hattiesburg, MS and was also a homemaker. She took care of 3 children and later on in her life she owned and operated two restaurants in southern Alabama. She retired then, living in Orlando FL, then she moved to Panama City Beach, FL. In 2006 she moved to Albany, GA to be closer to family. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they visited. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory Hester and Mattie Hester of Lumberton, MS; sisters, Mavis Anderson of Purvis MS and Rita Bennett of Lumber MS; her son Joel A. Rayborn of Panama City Beach, FL, and daughter Cheryl Evans, of Orlando, Fl. Survivors include one brother, Kenneth Hester and (Ailene) of Mobile, AL; one daughter Sheila and (Frank) Collins of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Wendy and (Daniel) Layfield of Leesburg, GA, John and (Tina) McQuiston of Albany, GA, Ken and (Emily) Evans of Boyton Beach, FL, Renee and (Rich) Taylor of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren included, Ashton Layfield and Chandler Layfield of Leesburg, GA, Samantha Schryver of Apopka, FL, Haley Evans and Austin Evans of Boyton Beach, FL, Mikayla Evans of Boyton Beach, FL, Lars Taylor and Erica Taylor of Orlando, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
