Rufus Charles Selman

Mr. Rufus Charles Selman, 84, of Albany, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 on Christmas morning at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11: 00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home in Leesburg. His son-in-law, Lonnie Blair will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Born June 23, 1932 in Bartow County, Mr. Selman was the son of the late John D. Selman and Ollie Mae Chatman Selman. He retired from the Carlton Company of Albany and served his country in The United States Marine Corps. For several years Mr. and Mrs. Selman had a produce stand on Pine Avenue in Albany called Selman’s Produce. He will be remembered as a loving family man. Mr. Selman was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Selman was preceded in death by his son, Danny Selman and brother, Guyton Selman. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Helen Johnson Selman; children, Robbie and Delores Selman of Jackson, Dale Selman, Sherry Hester and David Selman all of Albany and Neica and Lonnie Blair of Midway; brothers, Cecil, Cap, Bill, Johnny and Jessie; sister, Rosie; 12 grandchildren and several great-grand-children. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S.
