Mr. Richard Anthony Smith, 66, of Leesburg, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 doing exactly what he loved, working on his farm. A memorial service with military honors will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S. Leesburg, GA. 31763. Rev. Joey Cannon will officiate. Born April 29, 1950, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Hurst Smith. A 1970 graduate of Lee County High School, Mr. Smith was a hard worker and proudly served his country in the United States Army Medical Corps. He loved his family more than anything. His faith was shown by his service to others and if there was ever a need he stepped in and filled it. Mr. Smith was a talented wood craftsman and built many beautiful things including the home in which he lived. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed caring for his catfish ponds and chickens. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Norma Goza Smith of Leesburg; children, Ian and Abby Smith, Keith and Vi McHan all of Leesburg and Travis O’Neal of Lancaster, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Becky Smith of Leesburg; Tommy Smith of Scottsboro, AL, Jim and Ann Smith of Woodstock, GA; sisters, Patricia Smith of Atlanta and Kathy Booth of Albany; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.josephwjonesfuneralhome.com. Joseph W.
