Rebecca Ann Cook

Mrs. Rebecca Ann Barber Cook, 72, of Lee County, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Born on July 18, 1950, in Orlando, FL, Mrs. Cook was the daughter of the late Jacob and Nellie Salter Barber. She worked as a cosmetologist but was most proud to be a loving homemaker. She was known as everyone’s Nana, enjoyed baking pound cakes and was of the Christian faith. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hannah Warren; her son-in-law, Dennis Griffin; and two sisters, Donna Usher and Kay Bingaman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 49 years, Melvin D. Cook of Lee County; two daughters, Shannon DeReus and Steve of Leesburg, and Kim Mathis of Lee County; grandchildren, Morgan Mathis, Donna DeReus, Lawson Mathis, and Jackson DeReus all of Lee County; and her stepbrother, Bobby Barber of Sylvester.

In keeping with the wishes of Mrs. Cook the family will have a private service.
