Msgt. John Patrick O'Connor, Usmc (Ret.)

August 30, 1944 — July 2, 2024

MSgt. John Patrick O’Connor, USMC (Ret.), 79, of Leesburg, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.


Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Harrell officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery at 12 noon.


Born on August 30, 1944, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Mr. O’Connor was the son of the late Edward and Ellen Dillan O’Connor. A proud Vietnam veteran, he proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps where he retired after many faithful and honorable years of service. Mr. O’Connor was a family man who always put his children and grandchildren first. He never missed his grandchildren’s activities and always showed up for his family. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and fishing. A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Raquel Davila O’Connor.


Those left to cherish his memory include his four children, Ann Peacock (Keith) of Leesburg, Rachael Brock (Joe) of Albany, John O’Connor (Jin) of Germany, and Edward O’Connor (Jamie) of McGehee, Arkansas; grandchildren, Rachael Morrison (Sean), Erik Sandal, Anna Laine Anthony (Aaron), Collin O’Connor, Keith Peacock, Natalie Brock, Mason O’Connor, Sean O’Connor, and Megan Peacock; one great grandchild, Lillian Grace Morrison; his siblings, Margaret Ransii (John), Thomas Paul O’Connor, and Ann Marie Everett; and a dear family friend, Arne Sandal.


Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home has been given the honor to serve the O’Connor family.
