Mrs. Mary Etta Henry Denton, 86, of Sylvester, peacefully passed away into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born January 25, 1935, in Miller County, Mrs. Denton was the daughter of the late Grady Eugene and Irma Gordon Henry. She made Sylvester her home in 1983 where she raised her children and worked as a caregiver. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a prayer warrior for her family and friends through the years. She was known to get up in the middle of the night and go to someone’s home and pray for them. Mrs. Denton was a faithful church member for many years, loved to play the piano, accordion, and sing gospel music. Her favorite movie was Where the Red Fern Grows and her favorite song was The Lights of Home. She will be greatly missed until we meet again in Heaven. “To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord.” In addition to her parents, Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, in 1970; sister, Idlene Barfield, brother, Hayes Henry, and her great-granddaughter, Payton Nichols in 2019. Survivors include her children Sam Denton and Sarah of Tallahassee, Wayne Denton and Theresa of Sylvester, Jim Scottie Denton and Sandra of Doerun, Virginia Denton and Danny of Poulan, Lisa Brady and Wade of Sylvester, and Anita Holloway and Rick of Sylvester; step-son, Ray Denton of Maryland; grandchildren, Levi Denton, Amie Lockhart, Brian Moore, Garrett Denton, Herbert Denton, David Denton, Scottie Denton, Amy Beckerson, Matt Hutto, Christopher Hutto, Sammy Waller, Hunter Denton, Southern Williams, Rebecca Margescu, Emily Brady, Chassity Nichols, Shaun Nichols, and Lauren Nichols; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Bonnie Wishum and Whit of Albany; brother, Gordon Henry of Huntsville, AL; sister-in-law, Hilda Henry of Germany; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the Hillcrest Cemetery, in Sylvester. Joseph W.
