Mary Bridges Wilson

Mrs. Mary Bridges Wilson, 87, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, with her beloved family by her side.

Born on May 30, 1936, in Albany, Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late John D. Bridges and Merle Rouse Bridges. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg where she greatly enjoyed attending The Jane Studdard Memorial Sunday School Class, and Thursday senior adult Bible study. She retired as an accounts payable clerk with The Lee County Board of Commissioners. She loved cooking for her family and friends and once won The Pillsbury Bake Off Contest where she met Bob Baker and other hosts. Most of all she loved Jesus, her family, and all her dear friends with the love of Christ. A precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she will be greatly missed until we meet again in Heaven.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by 4 brothers, and 1 sister.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 69 years, Bobby Flether Wilson; her children, Bobby F. Wilson and Anna of Greensboro, Jimmy Wilson and Melonnie of Dawson, and Julie Wilson Eddings and Bill of Thomasville; brother, Alex Bridges and Cyndi of Mooresville, NC; 5 grandchildren, Austin Wilson, Lexi Wilson, Megan Chandler and Thomas, Katie S. Haynes and Shannon, and Ronnie Stripling; and 3 great-grandchildren, Jackson Chandler, James Chandler, and Hanna Jones.

Services honoring her life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Calvin King and Dr. Joshua Posey will officiate. A private inurnment of her remains will be held in The Leesburg Cemetery.
