Mrs. Linda Laurel Watson, 80, of Leesburg passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Albany. Rev. Josh Bower will officiate, and the family will receive friends following the service.
Born February 2, 1945, in Traverse City, MI, Linda was the daughter of the late James Sigmon and Laurel Garthe Blackmer. She retired from the Dougherty County School System where she taught for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Albany where she sang in the choir. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, shopping, and traveling back to Michigan to visit and spend time with her family. Linda was always looking after others and making sure everyone felt cared for, remembered, and loved. One of her favorite things to do was to make sure friends, family, and church members always had handwritten cards on special occasions. A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, William Larry Watson; and her stepbrother, Jim Blackmer.
Survivors include her children, Christopher Mark Watson and Lisa Marie Harris and her husband Bobby all of Leesburg; two grandsons, Dalton Dunlap of VA and Matthew Dunlap of Leesburg; stepsister, Julie Blackmer; and a host of extended family members that loved her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Albany, 220 North Jackson St. Albany, GA 31701.
Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home of Leesburg was given the honor to serve the Watson family.
