Karl Maffett McPherson

Karl Maffett McPherson, age 90 of Dawson, GA passed away on March 6, 2025 at Merryvale Assisted Living in Oxford, GA. He was born June 23, 1934 in Cuthbert, GA to the late Karl and Ola McPherson.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson, where Karl will be laid to rest beside his wife. 

Karl so much loved the game of golf and that was only his passion for many many years. He also enjoyed spending time with his pets and occasionally travelling with his wife around the United States. For most of his life Karl worked at Robins Air Force Base where he retired and later moved to Dawson, GA. He was a very active member of the Dawson Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir until he moved to Oxford, GA in 2023 to reside at Merryvale. Karl would always bring a smile to a face wherever he would go as he would try to humor those nearby whether they young or old.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Karl McPherson and Ola Massy McPherson; his wife of 40+ years, Martha Chapman McPherson, daughter, Dixie Karen Brown, and three sisters, Carolyn, Martha Ann, and Libba.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Scott McPherson, five grandchildren, Kristen Cleghorn, Meghan Addison, Monica Bugg, Madison McPherson, and Blake McPherson, and three great grandchildren, Cohen Smith, Tinsley Cleghorn, and Kenley Addison.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society in memory of Karl.
