Julian C. "Sonny" Thaggard, Jr.

Mr. Julian C. “Sonny” Thaggard, Jr. 70, of Leesburg and formerly of Doerun, passed away Sunday morning, August 21, 2016 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S. Leesburg, GA. 31763. Rev. Richard Fulford and Rev. Bruce English will officiate with interment to follow in the Leesburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Pressley, Wendell Arrington, Tommy Paulk, Bryan McDonald, Greg Odom, Al Surrency, Derrick Lewis and Chad Roberts. Born July 17, 1946, Mr. Thaggard was the son of the late J.C. Thaggard and Verna Sikes Thaggard. He recently celebrated his 70th birthday. Mr. Thaggard has been a farmer and leader all his life. He was the Owner of T&T Farms of Lee County and was founding president and Co-Owner of Doerun Gin Company. He loved farming dearly and fishing at Lake Eufaula. More than anything, he loved his family and was a proud father. He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. Survivors include his loving wife, Jackie Thaggard of Leesburg; children, Zachary S. Thaggard (Erin) of Leesburg; Julian Stacy Thaggard and Stephanie L. Thaggard both of Doerun; five grandchildren, Peyton Thaggard and Kathryn Thaggard of Leesburg; Austin and Christy, Dalton and Summer Thaggard of Doerun; brother, Richard Thaggard and Rosemary; sisters, LaVerne Thompson and Charles and Shelby Snow and Wendell. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at the funeral home.
