Joseph "Joey" Barnes

Mr. Joseph “Joey” Paul Barnes, 52, of Albany, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 from complications with Multiple Sclerosis. Services honoring the life of Mr. Barnes will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2019, in the chapel of Sherwood Baptist Church. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. He was born November 6, 1966 in Panama City, FL to the late, Ross and Janie Smith Barnes. He was a 1984 graduate of Dougherty County High School, and later attended Albany Technical College where he received an Associates degree. He was a former employee of Cooper Tires and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church where he played percussion. He loved coaching his children in baseball, playing golf, and cooking for his family. A loving father, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all. Joey is survived by his children, Jansen Barnes (Bekah) of Leesburg, Dylan Barnes of Savannah, Skylar Barnes (Alex) of Tallahassee, FL, Carolyn Barnes, Hannah Barnes, and Kayla Barnes all of Albany; sister, Debra Allen (Floyd) of Leesburg; brothers, Johnny Barnes (Lois) of Kankakee, IL, Randy Barnes of Albany, and Richard “Bam” Barnes of Columbus; one expected granddaughter, Emma Faye Barnes; mother of his children, Dean’Na Conyers of Dawson; and several nieces and nephews.
