Mr. John Steven VanTassel, 64, of Dawson and formerly of Holiday, FL, unexpectedly passed away on the evening of Monday, January 20, 2025.
According to his wishes, there will be no formal services.
Born September 15, 1960, in Clearwater, FL, he was the son of the late, Robert and Joan VanTassel. John retired from Publix where he worked for many years as a produce manager. He loved football and was a huge fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. He was a wonderful husband and father and truly lived for his girls. Together he and his wife had 7 fur babies at home, Chops, Gracie, Georgia, Bogie, Wolf, Oliver, and Scotty whom he loved with all of his heart. John was a simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved long drives through the country in his truck, playing golf, listening to Lynard Skynyrd, and walks through the park with his dogs. He was a loving husband, father, “Pops”, brother, and uncle, who will be greatly missed by all.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Ann VanTassel; two daughters, Stephanie and Samantha VanTassel; granddaughter, Emma Owens; sister, Luann Diaz; brother, Robert VanTassel; niece Kristen, her husband Vate, and their daughters, Mila and Sofia; and niece Tara, her husband Peter and their daughter Ryla.
