John Edwin "Ed" Young

Mr. John Edwin Young, 82, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Services honoring the life of Mr. Young will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Salem Baptist Church, 902 Jewel Crowe Rd. Sylvester, GA 31791. Pastor Nick Arborgast and his son, Stephen Young will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will visit with friends following the service.

Born July 14, 1940, in Madawaska, Maine, Ed was the son of the late Scott and Dorothy McLaggan Young. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and devoted his entire life to serving God, and his family. In 1994 when his beloved Charlotte underwent surgery for her cancer, she was left with memory loss. He retired at that time and spent every moment caring for her. He loved deeply and always was willing to put those he loved before himself. Mr. Young enjoyed traveling to Canada during the summers to visit family and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church of Worth County where he served for many years as a deacon and church custodian. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Lashley Young, and his father-in-law, Grover Lashley.

Survivors include his children, Stephen Young and Melanie of Albany, Stephanie Keating and Justin of Saint Augustine, and Shera Carr and Corey of Leesburg; sister, Doris Steven of Bradenton, FL; and grandchildren, Corey, Cheyenne, Lashley, Jordyn, Addison, and Haley.
