Mrs. Jewel Emory Hicks, 83, of Leesburg, passed away, Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S. Leesburg, GA. 31763. Rev. Robin Chaplin will officiate. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery in Heard County. Born November 2, 1932 in Grantville, GA, Mrs. Hicks was the daughter of the late Lewis Emory and Fanny Bell Fomby Emory. She worked for many years at Coats and Clark, enjoyed gardening and greatly loved flowers. She enjoyed traveling and her greatest joy in life was being with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survivors include her daughter, Julie Head of Leesburg; sons, Roy (Mary) Head of Ellabell, GA, John Head of Leesburg and Charles Head of Statesboro; brother, Thomas (Bernice) Emory of Oakfield; 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Hicks and sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Martin Householder.
