Mr. Jerry Brooks, 93, of Albany, passed away at his home in Albany on the morning of Saturday, December 4, 2021. A memorial service honoring his life will be hosted by the family at a later date. He was born April 12, 1928, to the late Will and Ruth Hawkins Brooks and grew up in Alabama as one of 12 siblings. Mr. Brooks retired civil service where he worked for many years as the supervisor of railroad shipping and receiving. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Putney, loved to fish, and was a wonderful “PeePop” to his grandchildren whom he adored. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Earnestine Rhodes, Donald Brooks, James Brooks, Munn Brooks, Nell DeVane, Nina Riles, Virginia Howell, and Geraldine Grantham. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost 71 years, Christine Chambliss Brooks of Albany; one son, Terry Brooks of Albany; grandchildren, Endya Stephens (Chad) of Hahira, and Brandon Michael Brooks (Abby) of Tallahassee; great grandchildren, Brooks, Little Chad, Basia, Anna, and Blaire; his 3 siblings, Rex Brooks, Pete Brooks, Annette Holmes; and a host of extended family and friends.
