Mrs. Irene Nolan Shiver, 74, of Leesburg, went home to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Graveside funeral services honoring her life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 in the Leesburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, June 30th, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home of Leesburg. Brother Bobby Marshall will officiate. Born March 25, 1945, in Albany, Mrs. Shiver was the daughter of the late Homer L. Nolan, Sr. and Mary Blount Nolan. She retired from The Dougherty County Library as a librarian’s assistant. Mrs. Shiver had a servant’s heart and was always doing for others. She was dedicated to her friends, and always made sure her older friends were looked after and cared for without expecting any recognition. Mrs. Shiver was a faithful member of Albany Gospel Chapel where she quietly worked behind the scenes anywhere she was needed. Above all, she loved the Lord and her family more than anything. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her beloved husband, Kirt J. Shiver of Leesburg; two children, Sonya Shiver Sutton and her husband Mark of Fitzgerald, and Kirt J. Shiver Jr. and his wife Cathy of Loganville; grandchildren, Sean, Austin, Jordan, Bryton, and Katelyn; brother, Homer L. Nolan Jr. (Leighanne) of Midlothian, TX; sisters, Beth Hartley (Harold) of Leesburg, and Nola Ledford (Mark) of Savannah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Albany Gospel Chapel in honor of Mrs. Irene Shiver, or the charity of one’s choice. Joseph W. Jones was given the honor to serve the Shiver family.
