By age 5 he was reading jokes in Readers’ Digest, and he was known for always enjoying a laugh or a good game of Monopoly. He loved his relatives and looked forward to family holiday gatherings including visiting the farm and his Aunt Eddye. He enjoyed trips with his mother, driving his van, and his many pets. He was known as a wonderful friend and enjoyed going to The Cool Place on Fridays. He was very patriotic and loved animals. He was of the Christian faith and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunts, Eva Hooks Adair and Eddye Hooks Clay, first cousins, James R. Clay and Carolyn Clay Daniel, and his beloved wife, Maureen Edith Cooper who passed away on May 12, 2021.

He is survived by first cousins Evelyn Clay Hicks of Marietta, Georgia and Robert A. Clay, Jr. of DeSoto, Georgia as well as many second cousins. Harold is also survived by dear friends Dean and Leslie Reese who faithfully stood by him for many years and during his final difficult weeks, and close friend David Slaton of Leslie, Georgia.
