George Herman Mitchell

Mr. George Herman Mitchell III “Mitch”, 59, of Leesburg, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home of Leesburg. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Leesburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Lee Smith officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Floral Memory Gardens. Born November 17, 1962, in Albany, he was the son of the late George Herman Mitchell II and Mary Miller Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was currently employed at Bill Thompson Tire’s in Albany where he worked for many years as a shop manager. He was previously employed with Sears Automotive for over 20 years before their closing. He was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan and was known as a kind man who was willing to give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He loved the Lord dearly and was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Heather Mitchell of Leesburg; children, Mark Mitchell (Alicia) of Heath, TX, Kayla Harrell (Justin) of Leesburg, Brett Mitchell of Macon, and Jensen Mitchell of Leesburg; stepchildren, Nikkie Oakes and Draven Oakes; siblings, Donna Mathews (Brian) and Steve Mitchell both of Zephyrhills, FL; his six grandchildren, Bryce, Meghan, Savannah, Jackson, Jostlyn, Jacob; and a host of extended family and friends that loved him dearly.
