Emily Akins Drawdy

Emily Akins Drawdy, 80, of Leesburg, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2021, in the Thundering Springs Cemetery, in Leesburg. Rev. Doc Williams will officiate, and the family will visit with friends following the service. Born January 5, 1941, in Leesburg, Emily was the daughter of the late James and Lucy Hartley Akins. She was a loving and caring homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, attending auctions, and watching wrestling. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her son, Frank Mercer; grandson, Steven Dietzel; brothers, John, Bill, Jimmy, and Ronnie; and sisters, Mamie, and Nina. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Glenda Mercer of Canton, Timmy Drawdy of Florida, and Andrea McClelland; siblings, Kenny Akins and Cathy of Leesburg, Dina Tonn and Charles of Leesburg, and Ruby Strickland; grandchildren, Brandon Terry, Christopher Terry, Brittany Dietzel, Steven Dietzel, Jr, Mariah Mercer, Mitchell Dent, Marshell Dent; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Brynleigh, Miguel, Edward, Marcello, Alfonso, Jayden, Brelynn; a host of nieces and nephews.
