Ellie Mae Lewis

Ellie Mae Lewis, 89, of Albany, passed away on January 11, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, prior to the graveside service. Rev. Andrew Kornegay and Rev. Bobby Paul will officiate.

Born October 26, 1934, in Baker County, Georgia, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Clark H. Edwards and Lura Irvin Edwards. She worked for Coats and Clark in Albany until their closure and later went to work at Publix where she retired. When she was able, she attended Albany Family Worship Center. In her free time, she liked playing board games, watching the Braves play, gameshows, and was a huge wrestling fan. She also enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Lewis was a special, loving person, who had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Above all, she loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Herbie Edwards.

Survivors include her daughters, Jacqueline “Jackie” Crenshaw, and Shawn Lewis both of Albany; brothers, Billy Edwards Sr. (Terri) of Lake Charles, LA, Roger Edwards of Palm Coast, FL; sister, Dorothy V. Hill, of FL; and her beloved grand doggy, Pepper.
