Mrs. Dorothy Nell McLendon Martin, 86, of Albany, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 4, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with COVID-19. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Crown Hill Cemetery with her nephew, Rev. Brad Hughes and her pastor, Rev. Bill Suggs officiating. The family has requested the use of masks and social distancing to be observed. Born October 20, 1934, in Colquitt, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Joe T. McLendon and Rebecca Pauline Loyless MClendon. She retired from The Ayers Corporation in Albany and loved to cook for her family. Mrs. Martin was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Albany for many years and was known as a Godly lady who loved Jesus and her family more than anything. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Rogers Martin; four sons, Harry Martin, Roger Martin, Donald Martin, and Ricky Martin; four brothers, Joe McLendon, David McLendon, Melton McLendon, and Binton McLendon. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Martin Brown, and Tony of Leesburg; sisters, Pat McLendon Hughes and her husband, Rev. Frank Hughes of Leesburg and Brenda Wilson and her husband, David of Fort Gaines; and her brothers, Hinton McLendon and his wife, Reba of Putney and Carol McLendon and his wife, Irene of Bainbridge; two grandchildren, Aaron Martin, and Anthony Brown; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
