Doris Kirksey Lail

Mrs. Doris Kirksey Lail, 94, of Dawson, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, in Butler with Rev. Richard Gill officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. Born October 2, 1927, Mrs. Lail was the daughter of the late Howard and Ethel Joiner Kirksey. She worked at Almark Mills in Dawson for many years from which she retired. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, working in her yard, and fishing. She loved her dogs and loved everyone she met. Mrs. Lail was a member of Herod Baptist Church of Dawson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lail was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lail; children, Larry Joe Lail, Billy Lail, Ward Lail, and Betty Teems; granddaughter, Candice Pitts and great-granddaughter, Nichole Gause. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Calvin Lail of Albany, Janice Landin of Yatesville, GA, Donna Bailey and Gary of Bronwood, and Paula Harrison and Jerry of Albany; 2 sisters, Martha High of Americus and Allene James of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
