Mr. Donnie Hubert Edwards, 72, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Willson Hospice House in Albany. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Kerry Reeves will officiate with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Born August 16, 1944 in Opelika, AL, Mr. Edwards was the son of the late Hugh and Virginia Baker Edwards. He worked as a mechanic for many years and enjoyed racing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Mr. Edwards was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Edwards and two brothers, Gerald Edwards and Kenneth “Butch” Wayne Edwards. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Thompson Edwards of Leesburg; children, John and Tykisha Thompson of Albany, Michael Edwards of Leesburg and Mylena Clayton (Jason) of Acworth; grandchildren, Katie, Morgan, Allison, Brandon, Carolanne, Courtney, Darrell, Jr., Lauren and Blake; one great-grandchild, Braylee; brothers, Raymond and Sue Edwards and Terry and Tally Edwards; sister, Judy Russell and Randy and sister-in-law, Emily Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 S. Leesburg, GA. 31763.
