Cpo Ronald Paul Thorne, Sr., Usn (Ret.)

Mr. Ronald Paul Thorne Sr., 87, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Baconton United Methodist Church with a catered meal to follow.

Born July 2, 1936, in Clarksburg, WV, he was the son of the late Paul and Osie Shreves Thorne. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 21 years of faithful and honorable active duty service. During his tenure in the military he served in the Vietnam era. Mr. Thorne was a member of Baconton Methodist Church and in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. A loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia “Pat” Aiello Thorne; and his great grandson, Jesse Cole Gardner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Mike Thorne and Heather Tanner of Dallas, TX, Paul Thorne and his wife Pam of Leesburg, and Jamie Sanders and her husband Adam of Jekyll Island; brother, James Thorne and his wife Charlotte of Lake Oconee; sisters, Susan Gianettino of Ohio and Donna Sirianni of West Virginia; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to Phoebe Hospice in Mr. Thorne’s memory.
