Charles D. Jones, Sr.

Mr. Charles D. “Pop” Jones, Sr., 81, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at Advent Health in Kissimmee, Florida.

Charles was born December 23, 1942, in Albany, Georgia, to Marques Sylvester Jones and Annie Bell Adams Jones.

Survivors include his children, Vicky (Mickey) Hasty, Greg (Donna) Jones, Kenna (Tom) Pate, Charlie Brown Jones, Chuck (Jana) Jones, Candy Jones Miller (Chuck); grandchildren, Brandy (Joe) Ball, AJ Phillips, Ashli (Michael) Farris, Gregory Charles Jones, Lynzie (Eddie) Turner, Heather (Matt) Chambliss, Jenna (David) Tollefson, Dalton Miller, Braylen Miller and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Catlet Westberry Jones, his daughter, Donna Elaine Westberry and his granddaughter, Allie Elizabeth Jones.

Charles has done everything from starting and pastoring churches, law enforcement, security, to drywall and construction.

In his free time, he enjoyed working in his shop, building race cars, boating on the river, watching sports, spending time with his grandchildren and having fish fry with his family and friends.

Charles especially will be remembered for being a man who loved everybody and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a good natured person and a great friend.

Charles and his wife JoAnn, went through an awful tragedy when they lost their daughter, Donna, in a car accident three days before her high school graduation. This tragic loss embarked him on a journey to stop this from happening to another family by starting the DUI task force in Worth and Dougherty County in the the early 80’s.

His celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
