Charles Johnny Sapp

September 11, 1941 — November 22, 2022

Mr. Charles Johnny Sapp, 81, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at his home while surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 11, 1941, in Fulton County, Mr. Sapp was the son of the late George Charles Sapp and Willie Lee Israel Sapp. He moved to Albany when he was four years old and at the age of ten, he moved to Leesburg where he graduated from Lee County High in 1961. He remained at the same property and in the same house the rest of his life. He proudly served his country in The United States Army and retired from Albany Water, Gas, and Light. After retirement he spent his days doing the things he so loved including using his talent as a quail guide at many plantations in the area. He was a talented dog trainer and was known as a tender warrior of a man, yet he could call a deer to the palm of his hand. He loved hunting, fishing, and simply loved the great outdoors. Johnny always made sure to leave the woods the way he found it and had a great appreciation for God’s beautiful creation. He was known as a true cowboy who trained horses and enjoyed riding them throughout his life. Mr. Sapp was of the Baptist faith, had a strong faith in God, and loved his family more than anything.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sapp was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Barlow.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Audrey Bishop Sapp of Leesburg; his children, Stephanie Patrick of LaGrange, and Brian Sapp and April of Preston; sister, Rosenia Lansing; brother, Tim Arnett; grandchildren, Kristopher Strawder, Taylor Patrick, Madison Patrick, Brice Sapp, and Peyton Sapp; great-grandchildren, Eli Strawder, and Haylee Strawder; several nieces, and nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Barlow will officiate with interment to follow in the Leesburg Cemetery. The family will visit with friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
