Chaplain Ben Rice

Chaplain Ben A. Rice, 97, of Albany, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Brodess officiating. After the funeral a private burial will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery.

Born on July 9, 1927, in Middlesboro, KY, Rev. Rice was the son of the late Howard and Etta Wright Rice. He faithfully served his country in The United States Navy as a chaplain for over 17 years of service. He served in radio communication for missionaries and military personnel. He was proud to serve for 14 years as pastor of The Leesburg Presbyterian Church. Most of all Rev. Rice loved God, his family, and his country.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 39 years, Karen Rice; brother, David Sutton, sister, Betty Brower; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
