Betty Sue Ivey

Betty S. Ivey, of Dawson and Leesburg, went home to be with our Lord on the morning of Monday, December 27, 2021. Mrs. Ivey was born in 1934 in Calhoun County, GA to the late Charlie and Eunice Hilton. She met and married Vernon R. Ivey, Sr. in 1953 while attending college in Albany. Many years later, they moved to Leesburg after Mr. Ivey’s retirement from the USAF. Mrs. Ivey was a retired LPN and enjoyed her years working in the well-baby nursery at Phoebe Putney. During her retired years, she and Mr. Ivey lived in Perry, FL and Georgetown, GA where they enjoyed many friendships and church fellowships. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Vernon R. Ivey, Sr.; five brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Vernon R. Ivey, Jr. (Laura) of Inverness, FL, Richard Ivey (Patsy) of Dawson, GA, Sandy Ivey of Leesburg, GA, and Andy Ivey (Andrea) of Elijay, GA; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Albany Alzheimer’s Time-Out program or Willson Hospice House of Albany. Joseph W.
