Aubrey Mcdonald

Mr. Aubrey Carmel “A.C.” McDonald, 85, of Lee County, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024, while surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Dr. Josuha Posey of First Baptist Leesburg will officiate with interment to follow in the Leesburg Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented.

Born on November 17, 1938, in Ellaville, Mr. McDonald was the son of the late Amory and Virginia Brooks McDonald. He graduated from Albany High School in 1957 and served in The United States Army. A.C. worked with McDowell Cattle Company as an accountant and auctioneer. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1967 until his retirement as supervisor in 1992. He also worked for the Albany Herald from 1971 until 2006. He was a member of The Moose Lodge #1285 Albany Georgia, previous member of The Elks Lodge and Flint River Golf. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing guitar, and fishing. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Braves, Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs, and NASCAR. He was of the Christian faith, loved his family and his country and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbarba Wooten McDonald; daughter, Michelle Adelman, and grandson, J.R.

Survivors include his children, Melanie Garrett and John of Leesburg, Ashley Carmel McDonald of Leesburg, and Yvette Huffman and Mark of Arkansas; sister, Linda Aulabaugh of Ringgold; 7 grandchildren, John, James, Ashley, Alan, Patti, A.J., Scarlett, and Josh; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
